Вино Шато Марго 1943 (Chateau Margaux 1943)
This vintage was a tremendous success. It was the best wine produced at Chвteau Margaux, and in Bordeaux generally, since 1934. We think back to those difficult times and conditions during the war with feelings of great sympathy. Many things were lacking : personnel, horses, spray products, generally everything. The success of this vintage is all the more touching. Chвteau Margaux 1943 is very good to drink now. Its bouquet is very fine, very elegant, closer to the great vintages of the 1950s, like 1953, than the other great wines produced in the 1940s. On the palate, it is tender and harmonious, finishing on a smooth rather than dry note. This delicious wine to drink now can still be kept for several years more without any problem. (July 2004)
